Case Study: Verre Églomisé murals for a major Tech company’s new HQ at St. John’s Terminal, NYC. Elevator lobby and hallway installations of 192 hand painted & gilded glass mirror panels.

A major Tech company in NYC commissioned a number of artists to design works in different media throughout their new HQ at St. John's Terminal building in lower Manhattan. For this work, Georgiana Goodwin was asked to create reverse painted glass murals of gardens containing the flora and fauna of New York State, as an arrival experience to the top floor of the building. There is beautiful landscaping on a terrace surrounding the entire top floor, and the painted glass surfaces form a connection between indoor and outdoor. In addition, the client wanted to place Easter Eggs throughout the installation, iconic of or specific to New York City. Scattered among the murals, one can find their company bicycle, a citibike, a baseball, an iconic NYC coffee cup, a smoke stack, traffic cone, flying birds, pigeons, rats and a wild raccoon. People walking by become part of the garden by seeing their reflections in the mirrored surface. The installation includes six murals, made of Verre Églomisé, filling two elevator lobbies and a main hallway stretching the length of the building from North to South.
